Filming in a Shower for Waterpik

Actor standing on shower set for Waterpik product videos

BTS of our shower set - trying to keep the actors warm and the equipment dry!

The problem with video production in the shower is the water.

Water on the camera and lighting equipment, water on the actors, I mean how did Hitchcock deal with it all in Psycho?

Our challenge wasn’t quite as bad - I mean we weren’t depicting a murder after all! No horrific screaming or blood swirling down the drain.

We were there to create product videos showing the benefits of Waterpik’s DualDock and Showercare shower heads.

We filmed on a stage with a mocked-up shower set, and actors who were willing to get wet.

Our camera was on a jib, so could float into the scene without a tripod in the wetness. This also made for some great moves.

Our art department was ever-ready to deploy clean rags to dry things off, and our hair/makeup person helped keep our talent warm between takes.

We also shot a couple of commercials for their oral care division introducing their Sonic-fusion product, at two different dentist offices.

For these spots, we worked with the ever talented dentist (and Bachelorette star) Dr. Chris Strandburg - who showed up not only knowing his lines, but delivering them with perfection. Tom Miller directed, and was concurrently Director of Photography (on all but one.) Robin Schmactenberger produced, with post at Idolum.
